  • hitting the CLEAR button to enable the numeric keypad on an Apple keyboard [1]
  • Dual 27" display brightness control
    • if using an apple kb
      • main monitor - brightness button on kb
      • 2nd monitor - control + brightness button on kb [2]
  • turn off dual menu bars (which is the default setting for a new user)
    • uncheck "Displays have separate spaces" in System Preferences /Mission Control. And log out and log in.[3]
  • Turn off default two-sided printing [4]
  • hold down option to change Finder column width for all columns -- new width becomes default. [5]
