- hitting the CLEAR button to enable the numeric keypad on an Apple keyboard [1]
- Dual 27" display brightness control
- if using an apple kb
- main monitor - brightness button on kb
- 2nd monitor - control + brightness button on kb [2]
- if using an apple kb
- turn off dual menu bars (which is the default setting for a new user)
- uncheck "Displays have separate spaces" in System Preferences /Mission Control. And log out and log in.[3]
- Turn off default two-sided printing [4]
- hold down option to change Finder column width for all columns -- new width becomes default. [5]
- To display menu bar on all connected monitors:
- System Preferences / Mission Control / check "Displays have separate Spaces" [6]
- After connecting a new drive, system becomes unresponsive after leaving it alone for 10 seconds
- Spotlight may be indexing the new drive. Add drives you don't want Spotlight to index in System Preferences.
Finder[edit]
- Shortcut to expand all folders in Finder's list view: "mouse/trackpad-clicking the triangle while holding the Alt/Option or Command key"[7]
