hitting the CLEAR button to enable the numeric keypad on an Apple keyboard ^[1]
Dual 27" display brightness control
- if using an apple kb
  - main monitor - brightness button on kb
  - 2nd monitor - control + brightness button on kb ^[2]
turn off dual menu bars (which is the default setting for a new user)
- uncheck "Displays have separate spaces" in System Preferences /Mission Control. And log out and log in.^[3]
Turn off default two-sided printing ^[4]
hold down option to change Finder column width for all columns -- new width becomes default. ^[5]
To display menu bar on all connected monitors:
- System Preferences / Mission Control / check "Displays have separate Spaces" Cite error: Closing </ref> missing for <ref> tag
