[Gyles looks up from a book.] GYLES TikTok? JOANNA Mmm. The constraint sharpens the form. Some of the edits—brilliant timing. GYLES Oh yes, I’ve seen a few TokTiks. [Joanna blinks. Just once. Then stills.] JOANNA TikTok. GYLES Yes, yes. TokTik. Those little... skits. I saw one about a parsnip that nearly brought me to tears. JOANNA (carefully) It’s not called TokTik. It’s TikTok. GYLES Well—same ingredients, different order. JOANNA (evenly) No. That matters. [A pause.] GYLES I suppose I’m more of an Instagram man. I like permanence. Captions. Filters. JOANNA You like nostalgia. GYLES I do. And you like... velocity. JOANNA (gently) When it’s earned. [They sit quietly for a moment.] GYLES I’ll try to get it right next time.
