INT. STUDY – AFTERNOON Joanna sits in front of her laptop, unmoving. The screen glows faintly. A macOS system update is pending. She stares at it. JOANNA I knew this day would come. But I thought I’d be ready. GYLES Oh dear. Password trouble? JOANNA No. Worse. The update will break QuickTime Pro 7. I’ll lose multiple audio track support. Panning on a per-track basis. Plus combining tracks without re-encoding. GYLES But you still have QuickTime. JOANNA Not *that* QuickTime. This one was the Swiss Army knife for video. It could do everything. GYLES I use it all the time—click a file, it opens. Plays the thing. Lovely little *Q* icon. JOANNA That’s not QuickTime. That’s a ghost. It doesn’t even display timecode correctly. [Gyles clicks around on his laptop.] GYLES Oh—look! Yellow borders when you trim a clip! [Joanna turns slowly.] JOANNA Oh good. Yellow borders. That’s what we needed. GYLES I think it’s charming. JOANNA I had tools. You have an animation. GYLES How do I save? [Joanna rolls her eyes.] FADE OUT.
